Biography
Heikki Juhani Lyytinen (born June 24, 1946 in Kuopio. He is a professor of psychology at the University of Jyväskylä . He was Professor of Psychology at the University of Jyväskylä from 1997 to 2014. Shortly after his retirement, in 2015 he was appointed Professor of UNESCO Chair at the Agora Center at the University of Jyväskylä (2015-2019) with the aim of promoting international literacy . Lyytinen wrote as a student at the Kuopio Lyceum (1965). He graduated from the University of Jyväskylä with a Bachelor of Science in Education in 1970 and a Licentiate in 1974 and a Doctor of Psychology in 1984. His doctoral dissertation (1984) was titled The Psychophysiology of Anticipation and Arousal . He is an adjunct professor at the University of Helsinki (1985–). He was the second Vice Rector of the University of Jyväskylä from 1997 to 2000. Lyytinen was Director of the Center of Excellence funded by the Academy of Finland with Professor Lea Pulkkinen from 1994 to 2005 (Human Development and Risk Factors) and with Professor Jari-Erik Nurmi (Research on Learning and Motivation) from 2006 to 2011. Lyytinen has co-authored numerous books on psychology and more than 200 scholarly articles on psychology (already by 2007). His scientific output has continued to be active even after this. Professor Lyytinen has been a member of the Finnish Academy of Sciences since 2002. He has received many honors. In 2004 he received the Nokia Prize and in 2005 he was awarded the € 50,000 Philips Nordic Prize in recognition of his outstanding research on children's learning difficulties. In 2012 he was awarded the Allvar Prize.
